Starting from Guwahati, the route takes you along river valleys, into alpine landscapes, and over one of the highest motorable passes in India before reaching the sacred town of Tawang. In just five days, you experience a blend of natural beauty, spirituality, and history that captures the soul of Arunachal Pradesh. Tawang Monastery – A Living Legacy The highlight of the town, Tawang Monastery is the largest in India and more than 300 years old. Its golden rooftops shine above the valley while the chants of monks echo through the halls, filling the air with peace. It is both a spiritual center and a cultural treasure, offering a window into Buddhist traditions and Himalayan life.

Journey Roadmap

Start early morning from Guwahati. Drive via Tezpur and cross Bhalukpong (entry point to Arunachal Pradesh, Inner Line Permit check). Enjoy the scenic journey along the Kameng River. En route visit Tipi Orchid Research Centre (if time permits). Reach Dirang, a beautiful valley town known for apple orchards, hot springs, and monasteries. Overnight stay in Dirang.

Drive through scenic mountain roads with breathtaking views. Cross Sela Pass (13,700 ft) – a high-altitude mountain pass with stunning views and the frozen Sela Lake. Visit Jaswant Garh War Memorial dedicated to Rifleman Jaswant Singh. Stop at Nuranang Waterfalls (Jang Falls) before reaching Tawang. Evening at leisure in Tawang town. Overnight stay in Tawang.

After breakfast, drive to Bum La Pass (15,200 ft) near the Indo-China border (permit required). On the way, visit Madhuri Lake (Sangetsar Lake) and PT Tso Lake. Return to Tawang by evening. Explore Tawang Monastery (largest in India and second largest in the world). Overnight stay in Tawang.

Drive back from Tawang towards Dirang. En route enjoy views of snow peaks and valleys. Stop at Sela Pass for photos if missed earlier. Evening relax in Dirang. Overnight stay in Dirang.

Early morning departure from Dirang. Drive back via Shergaon and Bhutan Border . Reach Guwahati by evening/night. Tour ends with wonderful memories.
